Hannah Barnett is an award-winning composer for film and television with a bold and innovative method to composing, combining contemporary elements with experimental sounds and live recordings to create imaginative and original scores.

 

Hannah’s background in songwriting, as a multi-instrumentalist, and producing pop and alternative music, lead her to a unique approach to composing for Film & TV - music which is fresh and exciting, yet sensitive and considered. With flavours ranging from emotional scores with a compelling edge, to catchy irresistible hooks, generic is not something you will hear to describe Hannah’s sound. 

 

Recent credits include scoring Sleepyhead, part of the Disney: Star Imagine scheme, which premiered at the London Film Festival at the BFI and British hip-hop animated short Mum's Spaghetti, which premiered at Edinburgh International Film Festival 2023 and is the Student Academy Award Winner 2023 for Animation. Short documentary The Space Between You and Me which premiered at Slamdance 2022 and was shown on PBS as part of the Reel South programme, Dead Silent and This Is Not A Sport Film, which were both shortlisted for a Student BAFTA 2022, comedy drama Straight Face which is nominated for a Student Royal Television Society Award (along with Dead Silent) and My Partner Lives in My Phone, a short comedy documentary commissioned by Netflix x HotDocs, and Wet Look, part of Season 4 of Channel 4's BAFTA nominated anthology of dramas On The Edge.

 

Hannah’s music has been featured on Spotify’s New Music Friday and she graduated in 2022 from the National Film & Television School with an MA for Composing for Film & Television.
